Restoring an Unusable Pool to its Former Glory

This once-beautiful swimming pool needed some serious TLC.

The Brief

This project began last year, with a request to fix an issue with the filter and to decommission the pool for overwintering.

When the time came to recommission the swimming pool, it became clear that the pool liner was in too poor condition for the pool to be used. In addition, all the face plates were discoloured and aged. Not at all inviting for the coming summer months – with the increase in hot weather in the UK, having an out-of-use pool is far from ideal.

What We Did

We removed the torn and damaged pool liner and thoroughly cleaned and sanitised the substrate. Next, a layer of felt was added to provide additional comfort underfoot.

After carefully measuring the pool, an order was made for a ‘bag liner’ from Aquaflex – the client chose ‘Coral’ from the 3D range, to give a textured blue finish.

We installed the liner, which is vacuumed into position as the pool is filled with water, perfectly moulding it to the pool shape. The liner was cut on site to fit the Roman end of the pool.

We also replaced all the face plates for the inlets, skimmer and underwater lighting for a proper refresh.

The End Result

After making sure the pool was properly filled and the correct chemicals added, it was was back to its former glory.

With the UK’s swim season set to be extended, with plenty of warm weather as time goes on, this pool is now ready to be enjoyed for many years to come. With expert maintenance from Pool Cover Systems of course.
